Sukuma commodities is a Ugandan second generation coffee value chain business based in Uganda. Its name is derived from a small village in south western Uganda where our first coffee plantation was established in the early 1970’s. Through resilience, commitment across the decades, our founders sustained the coffee farming operations with model farming methods. Thus being identified among the pioneer Uganda Robusta coffee farmers, this consistency earned him a a number of recognitions such as participating in the East African region Review & Planning conference in mainstreaming the management of Coffee farms in Africa (CABI-ARC, 2005 Nairobi Kenya) under the auspices of the European Union (EU) and the International Coffee Organization (ICO). The objective was to strategize approaches to protect the coffee plant thus increasing production and farmer gains among others. This knowledge and experience has been carried forward over the years in our farms and out grower network that we have slowly built through shared interests, thus guaranteeing the company’s supply chain network as a reliable quality coffee producer and exporter.
